Yeah, it's actually in the official biography as well.. but that's what I ment. It's just where it started.. nothing to do with it musically.

I suppose it's more kind of whining *gg*.. but then again it's really embaressing when you hear new stuff of some bands and then consider what they used to do earlier.

Oh yeah I completely agree with you, I had never thought of it that way before. But really bands should do that when their new sound is so radically different from their old sound. One band that comes to mind immediately is Guns 'n Roses. I'm not really a fan but if I recall correctly there was some kind of court battle over the name and Axl Rose ended up winning? I think he got to keep the name but I don't understand why he would want to keep the name considering that the new Guns 'n Roses is not the same as the old one.

Opeth, most definitely. They were loud, insane, loud yet again. I actually couldn't listen to them for the longest time. Their last album however is radically different. It's so quiet, melodic, very peaceful I guess. I loved it.
Tool had changed too when they were active. From more meditational stuff to louder, angrier songs. Then of course came A Perfect Circle, which is a whole different story.

You mean Damnation? You shouldn't look at it as an own album for it goes together with Deliverance which is a full death metal album. The two were supposed to be released as a double CD but the label was against it. Actually Opeth's newer songs are a combination of mellow and death parts while the older ones had less of the mellow stuff. My fav Opeth albums are Still Life and Blackwater Park

Really? It's a part? O.o Wow, I'm discovering new things here. Well, I definitely like the mellow parts more heh. I do like loud music but I mostly avoid death metal. Mostly. |

yeah, okay, so that's another change - no angst!
and yes, she used to do terrible dance music in canada before she released 'jagged little pill'. it's her dirty little secret that only canadians know. and haha, now so do you!

It wasn't so much dance music that Alanis did than girl pop music. If anyone here can remember Tiffany and Debbie Gibson, Alanis did music like that. And she only went by the name Alanis. The old, old videos are kind of funny to watch only because of the artist she is now. I really don't mind her, I respect what she's done. I can't listen to the Jagged Little Pill album anymore because it's been so overplayed but I still like it for the record that it is and what it did. Her 'kind' of music in the early-mid 90s wasn't so much in the mainstream and she helped bring it to the mainstream. This was still a time where male artists were given priority over female artists and Alanis proved that people would buy 'angry' music made by women.
