I have a dormer window just above my screen and (of course  ) I forgot to close it once.. It was summer, hot and one of those nice summer storms passed by, flushing nicely over the screen and straight into its ventilation holes.. A bit of warm air (hairdryer ) and some hopes and it worked again perfectly

oh, it's pretty good you were able to fix it that way. my moniter has tons of cat hair in it, 'cause my cats really like to sleep on it. #$%@ cats...
it's kinda funny, my roommate's previous moniter bit the dust the same way two summers ago...he just has really crappy luck.

Last autumn the system on my notebook crushed (once again ) and that was it.. no beep, no bluescreen, nothing.. It was a nightmare! Especially considering that the whole redesign of the Metalpics.ch which I've been working on for months was on the HD and (of course *g*) I didn't do any backups.. gee.. suppose we all have to learn from our own misstakes, haha! Fortunatelly I found a shop where they could copy the stuff from it to CDs.. still, it was quite expensive

my notebook computer died 3 days after the warrantee was up. serves me right for purchasing a Dell. i might be able to sell it for parts on ebay or something. i think it's the processor, but i have no way of testing it myself. but if it's the motherboard, it's well and truly dead.

A woman I work with has been smoking for 26 years but last week she quit. She needs a kidney transplant and the doctor told her they wouldn't operate on her unless she quit smoking. I think she's been without cigarettes for about 9 days now and we're all very proud of her. I see too many people who decide to quit and then start again after a few days. But she said the choice was simple, quit smoking or die.
