We all watch movies right? I thought we could use this thread to talk about movies we have seen, movies we are going to see, and movies we will never see again. What are your favourite movies? Who are your favourite actors/actresses? Why is a certain movie your favourite? What movies suck? Discuss away...

I don't really have one favourite movie above all others. Instead I have a list of movies that I love and would gladly watch several times:

La Vita e Bella, Cabaret Balkan, Adaptation, Sliding Doors, Shakespeare in Love, Only You, The English Patient, Gladiator, Legends of the Fall, Mystic River, House of Sand and Fog, Vertigo, Girl With a Pearl Earring, Bridget Jones' Diary, Bend it Like Beckam, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, I Claudius, Almost Famous, The Wizard of Oz, Edward Scissorhands, Fried Green Tomatoes, Mulholland Drive, Road to Perdition, Quills

I like these movies for different reasons. I look for a good story that is well written and well acted, I look at the way a movie is shot. I love it when the cinematography is done well. The soundtrack is very important, it can make or break a film. Part of the appeal of Gladiator was its soundtrack, I thought it was so well done. However, Troy, which completely sucked on so many levels, had a terrible soundtrack that did not help the movie at all.

Sliding Doors and Bend it Like Beckam also had really fun soundtracks. There's a movie called Party Monster with Macauley Culkin (yes that Home Alone brat) in his first role after a very long hiatus. The movie itself was very dark and disturbing and I'm not really sure if I liked it but I thought the soundtrack was excellent. It fit quite well with the movie and I liked how the music and the script each did their own part in telling the story. You don't see that too often where the music works so well with the story.

As for favourite actors and actresses, I always have a hard time compiling a list but Colin Firth immediately comes to mind. I love him in every movie that he's in. He's just so adorable. I also love Joaquin Phoenix, Jude Law, and Johnny Depp. For female acresses I like Julianne Moor, Juliette Binoche, Meryl Streep, and Nicole Kidman.

beacuse I don't know all original titles but I'll try to translate:

Hinter dem Horizont = Behind the Horizon with Robin Williams
Interview mit einem Vampir = Interview with a Vampire with Brad Pitt & Tom Cruise
Die fab. Welt der Amélie = the great world of Amelie, I'm sure the german title sounds different, i mean the french movie with Audrey Tatou.
